Hi Folk,
I want to put everything at the top of this post! Alas, you probably wouldn’t enjoy reading all of our announcements layered over each other, so sequential it must be:
CIPP Survey
I know, surveys aren’t glamorous. But this one really helps us get a program available for you and off the ground! If you have an interest in the CIPP certification, go to https://privacylawnyls.com/cipp-interest/ and let us know. If you don’t have an interest in the CIPP? Go to https://privacylawnyls.com/cipp-interest/ and let us know that too!

Registration is free to members, and membership is free to students. Thanks to Professor Benson for sending this our way!
The event will run from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Monday, March 6, over Zoom. Register here.
Welcome! You are invited to join a meeting: Practice Management & UPL CLE. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the meeting. Welcome! Event: How-To with Kyle: Virtual Private Networks
Going away for spring break? What does that look like for your data? Where and how you access the internet can affect whether or not your personal information is protected and how exposed it is to third parties. If you don’t want to take that risk, you’ll need a VPN—and once you get back from spring break, we’ve got the perfect event for you. In one hour, learn what VPNs are, hear a bit about why they matter, and get set up with a connection of your very own. Pizza will be provided by our co-sponsors, the Innovation Center for Law and Technology.
The event will run from 12:50pm to 1:50pm in room W402 on Tuesday, March 21. RSVP here, and be sure to bring a laptop!
Privacy Law Association presents How-To with Kyle Tuesday, March 21 12:50 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. W402 Maybe you’ve heard of VPNs—maybe you’ve seen ads on YouTube for the more popular brands—or maybe it’s an alien term. Virtual Private Networks are a key element in connecting to the internet on your terms, and they can be used in ways that enhance both cybersecurity and privacy! The fun doesn’t end there, so join us to learn how VPNs work and what they can do, in a hands-on workshop that will get you connected. Bring a laptop! This event is Cosponsored by The Innovation Center for Law and Technology. Pizza and refreshments will be served. nyls.wufoo.com |
Save the Date: PLA Tabletop Extravaganza
Okay, “extravaganza” might be pushing it, but we’re pulling out all the stops! The PLA is very excited to announce that we are working on an in-depth, hands-on, interactive incident response exercise. We’ll be addressing data breaches—but you’ll call the shots. Teams will compete to handle their breach better than all the rest, and there will be prizes 🏆
Expect more details later this month, and an event in mid-late April. For now, tell your friends, and maybe start thinking about what you would do if you had a data breach to handle…
Best,
Kyle Hunt
President, Privacy Law Association
